L'Officiel Arabia: When and how did you decide to become a model?
Dina Khoury: Modeling found its way into my life organically from a young age. As a child, you would catch me striking a pose anytime I would see a camera. I started my modeling career in my late teens and would rush to castings and modeling jobs all while getting a degree in psychology and volunteering in a children’s psychiatric unit. Even though I pursued other careers, being in front of the lens and expressing my creative self was one of my deeper passions.
L'O A: Who has inspired you the most in your life?
DK: My mother is my greatest inspiration. Now that I am older and can look back at how she worked, took care of 5 children and made sure we always had a home cooked meal. I am forever grateful for her strength and hope to be a great mother like her someday. In the public eye, I am inspired by Angelina Jolie, not only for her remarkable talent and beauty but also for her humanitarian efforts. Her ability to fearlessly use her voice for positive change and actively helping people and organizations resonates deeply with me.
L'O A: How has your Middle Eastern lineage helped you in your career?
DK: Being a Middle Eastern women in the world of creativity, fashion and beauty hasn’t always been embraced the way it is now. Being ethnically diverse is the true beauty in today’s world. There are so many different cultures and looks that I am proud to contribute to breaking stereotypes and promoting cultural inclusivity. I take pride in representing the beauty of my culture and hope to inspire women out there.
L'O A: Have you been to the UAE? If yes, how was your experience?
DK: Yes, I‘ve had the privilege of visiting the UAE many times, exploring both the futuristic allure of Dubai and the cultural richness of Abu Dhabi. Dubai, with its beautiful architecture and technological advancements, left me mesmerized. I really enjoy the culture, food and friends I’ve made there. Abu Dhabi offered a more traditional yet captivating experience. I had the privilege to visit the beautiful waters of Nurai Island in Abu Dhabi. The UAE is one of the safest places I have ever been to and really do an amazing job at welcoming you with their warm hospitality with of course an abundance of delicious Middle Eastern sweets!
L'O A: What's next for Dina Khoury?
DK: Moving forward, I am excited to continue my journey in modeling and explore new avenues in the world of acting. I am working with acting coaches to really dive into learning how to be able to express myself at a deeper level and expand my creativeness. The intersection of these two worlds presents an exciting path of growth and self-discovery that I am eager to explore further.
