L'Officiel Arabia: You are an actress, singer and dancer. How do you juggle your multiple talents?
Kat Graham: My new favorite word is edit. I edit my time. I make sure that everything I do has intention. I know that if I have a film that I have to shoot that I won’t have the band with me to record an album. I know if I’m in the studio, wrapping up an album, I don’t have time to necessarily devote hours to rehearsing for the tour, so I find ways of navigating and scheduling everything so that everything can work together.
L'O A: Who has inspired you the most in your life and how?
KG: I am wildly inspired by most people in my life currently. Everyone works hard, maintains immeasurable kindness, is wildly, generous, and is usually game-changing. The person that’s inspiring me the most right now is my friend and mentor Quincy Jones. He inspires me because he says the greatest thing is to be underestimated.
L'O A: Out of your multiple professions, which one do you enjoy the most?
KG: I’ve worked on movies and had the best experience of my life. I’ve also worked on films that it was one of the worst professional experiences I have ever had. I’ve had records that I loved performing, and others that I never want to hear again. It depends on the song/project.
L'O A: Have you ever been to the UAE? If yes, how was your experience?
KG: I’ve been to UAE. I’m there every year. I’ve done fundraising for UNHCR there, and I have gone to events that bring awareness in celebration of the fashion and culture of UAE. I hope to visit there more and more.
L'O A: What's next for Kat Graham?
KG: My next film to be released is Black White and Blue, which was written and directed by Tyler Perry for Amazon Studios. I’ve been producing a lot more in terms of television and film so one of the next projects after that release will most likely be something I’ve produced and or written.
I’m releasing an album this year that we’ve already shot the music video for. And gearing up to tour internationally.
My first book is being released on November 14 worldwide called Seasons Of You.
