L’Officiel Arabia: When and how did you decide to become an entrepreneur?
Aya Zarmon: I think being an entrepreneur is something you’re born with. When I was 15 I created this really unique project where I coordinated other school kids to deliver oil to elderly people so they could heat their houses. I was also the head of our student council at the time. I think that was the age when I realized that being an entrepreneur is who I really am. I went on to receive an MBA in Marketing and Business Innovation. Today I am an owner and partner of two massive oil companies, Global Oil & Gas ltd based out of the United States and LDS Gold Oil & Gas DMCC, a high profile trading company based out of Dubai. In our American operation, based out of Alabama, we have a few oil fields producing light crude oil, with over 2 million barrels in proven reserves. It’s truly an exhilarating business. If you want to be successful you’ve got to fearlessly take massive risks, but there is so much excitement when we succeed.
L’O A: Who has inspired you most in life?
AZ: The ones who have inspired me most are my mother and father with their endless support and encouragement. Also my piano teacher. From a very young age my teacher set incredibly high and challenging goals, but always believed that I could achieve them. I don’t know where I’d be without these people.
L’O A: Have you ever been to the UAE? If so what is your experience?
AZ: The UAE has become a second home to me with our trading company in the region. Bridging Israeli and United Arab Emirates business interests has become my primary focus and it’s shown me how beautiful this country is. Working and living in the UAE is a dream for any entrepreneur with billion dollar aspirations. This country exudes success, power and respect for all. I feel so welcomed here and amongst my peers because there is so much talent and influence all around. Also the food is amazing!
L’O A: What’s next for Aya?
AZ: I’m on a mission to establish myself as the face of Israeli business for the UAE. I want to be the exclusive destination for all major business deals coming to and from Israel and the UAE. I know I’ve got what it takes to lead this union and create multibillion dollar joint enterprises between the regions. I want to facilitate the beneficial mergers that ensure all parties are thrilled with the results. The goal is that this leads to both regions becoming a closer community and eventually even building universities and hospitals that assimilate our cultures more. I grow more enthusiastic about what the future has in store everyday.
