L'Officiel Arabia: When and how did you decide to become a reality TV star?
Farrah Abraham: I decided to make my first VHS casting tape and submit it to television network MTV when I was in a self improvement, modeling and acting program.
During the year term of the program, I got pregnant but my self-improvement coach showed me that even with things that might look like a negative we can make a positive social impact. So I did the MTV show “Teen Mom” and decided to become part of media/entertainment to empower and socially advocate for injustices I see in the World.
I’m blessed that I’ve been able to show others that younger parents are just as capable as older parents. Through the TV show and using my celebrity profile, I made history and helped decrease young pregnancies in the World. I also took away a lot of negative stigma surrounding young pregnancy.
Through my life experiences, I believe I have become one of the best moms ever and am now proud to be an advocate for those who lost loved ones, struggled with mental health, etc. I help others and give advice on healing, personal success and business, etc.
LOA: Who has inspired you the most in your life and career ?
FA: I believe those people who showed me compassion through hard times and invested their wisdom in me have inspired me the most. I can take inspiration from many different people be it friends, loved ones or strangers I meet, etc.
I’ve read countless “motivational” books and attended many top events only to be let down, but ultimately I keep inspiring myself through my faith... My faith is the best inspiration tool!! It keeps me passionate and gives me the drive to continue developing my next works in Television and Films.
LOA: Tell us about your ongoing projects like "Dream Twenties" ?
FA: Writing books is a therapeutic tool for me. I started writing my first one as more of a journal when I was young and sharing my experiences, struggles and feelings and putting them on to paper was a good release for me, it helped me a lot. Doing it led me to push for a book deal that in turn became a New York Times best selling memoir “My Teenage Dream Ended”.
Continuing the tradition of sharing what I learn like I did in my teens, I just released “Dream Twenties”, Live Your Dream Life Now.
My twenties were everything and more, it felt as though I lived five lives! They were hard and I overcame many challenges in relationships and business but I got through it! I enjoy sharing my life experiences with others and I hope the book will inspire and help others. It’s a must-read and will be also be available in audiobook for the 2021 holidays.
LOA: Have you ever been to the UAE? If yes, how was your experience?
FA: I love, love, love UAE! I’ve always felt that Dubai and the Middle East call my name as my ancestry is Syrian.
The majority of my Syrian family mostly reside in Arizona, USA now though.
Myself and my daughter Sophia made news headlines when we were last in the UAE - many publications published us sipping 24 karate gold sparkling apple cider at one of the Jumeirah hotels and having fun with the dolphins at the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai.
I also had a wonderful time doing a circus themed photo shoot with a lion cub in Dubai and attending the grand opening of the Kempinski Hotel alongside Dubai's elite.
Dubai and the UAE has always welcomed myself and my daughter, we’ve enjoyed so many fun experiences such as camel races, outdoor activities, the best VIP cinema experiences, incredible restaurants.
I love Dubai because it thinks big, it goes to new levels so the new generation can feel empowered to create a better tomorrow for us all. I will always be a supporter of the Middle East, especially UAE. I’m excited for my friends and fellow business owners leading the economy and taking part in Dubai’s expansion and the big Dubai Expo 2020. It’s very impressive!
LOA: What inspired this beautiful cover shoot for L’Officiel Arabia?
FA: My shoot for L’Officiel Arabia was inspired by culture and diversity. It was created by a very talented crew of Asian, Middle eastern, Moroccan and American talent that paid tribute to diversity, equality and inclusion of culture that helps makes the world a better place.
UAE is a beautiful country and Dubai is a cosmopolitan city and this photo shoot encompasses that with the cosmopolitan crew, beautiful outfits and elegance. I’ve never gotten to show my middle eastern background/culture like I did in this photo shoot. It truly is a “meeting my destiny moment”. It made me proud to see so many cultures working together and I love the the phenomenal photos embracing other cultures’ outlooks in a fashionable and beautiful setting in nature. In life, nature and other cultures, we can all find beauty and stay inspired to be passionate.
LOA: What are your plans for the future?
FA: I have been working tirelessly on my new portfolio in scripted, comedy, and documentary projects. I look forward to one day maybe bringing comedy shows and TV series to the UAE too and using my American Middle Eastern perspectives as a female writer, director, producer and talent. I also look forward to expanding Middle Eastern perspectives in Hollywood and hope my walk of fame star stands for making the world a more inclusive, diverse and creative place.
