A successful modelling career and reigning Miss Europe 2020 at a young age of 21 ! Gaby Guha tells L'Officiel Arabia about her journey so far and her plans for the future.
1. How was your experience at Miss Europe 2020, especially since you won it?
I had tears of joy. It was a mixed emotions, I was both nervous and excited at the same time during that night. The butterflies never go away. Honestly, being a beauty queen with a purpose is such a dream come true for every girl. I think it was a huge thing, I am honored and deeply humbled that I was able to represent France in the competition. Every day, I thank God for his blessings.
2. Which charities are you associated with after Miss Europe?
I’m really involved in child protection especially very young girls. I think children are the future of our society. The protection and education of the next generations is really important especially in a modern world full of distractions.
I try to empower young girls and women in general by spreading awareness on social media as an influencer.
More recently I have decided to represent in Europe, The Pink Ribbon Foundation. A charity foundation created in London to empower woman affected by breast cancer.
3. How has the ongoing pandemic affected you personally?
Corona virus is a worldwide pandemic, it didn't just affect Europe but the whole world in a big way. I follow universal protocols like washing my hands, staying at home and praying for the safety of my family, the safety of our frontliners.
4. What has been your biggest inspiration so far?
My family, that is my strength and my job as a Beauty Queen. It’s important to remember that our job does not encapsulate all of who we are as people, but it certainly plays a role in defining who we are. We create our world and thus we are the architects of our character and this is where elevation starts on how you porgress your career. Think about the job you want and why you want it, think about your career path. Many of us find our niche after years of trying the wrong thing. When you envision yourself doing something that you love, even the hard moments become easier.
5. Which high brands have you been associated with?
I believe that fashion is not just about beautiful clothes and the glorification of luxury, but it’s also about the people working behind the scenes who make such covetable items and bring an aspirational lifestyle to reality. I had the chance to work with renowned brands like Chaumet, Elie Saab Accessories, Saint Algue, Jean Louis David, GAP, Bossini, Truimph Lingerie.
6. How has your Television and Social media journey being so far?
I love every second of it. I always keep in mind that talent is something that must be nurtured when it comes to succeeding in life, and this is especially true for individuals working in fashion. I already did several appearances for Fashion TV, popular French TV channel like Canal +, M6. More recently after my crowning as Miss Europe 2020, available on MTV Lebanon, I had considerably more exposure in Middle East media & press.
7. Have you ever been to the United Arab Emirates?
Dubai is my second home. Simple as that. I love being there because it keeps me rooted to my humble beginnings. I'm proud that I chose to be unconventional and found passionate hearts and minds to help me make things happen in Dubai. I’m really happy with the support and welcome I receive every time I come back to work in Middle East fashion industry.
8. Did you enjoy shooting for the digital cover?
Yes, it was such an amazing moment surrounded by talented people and high fashion creations. The location was also amazing. We shooted inside Noir Bar, located in the Kempinski Hotel Dubai. This Cocktail Lounge and Bar are sophisticated in a decadent ambience. This place is perfect with a unique decoration stylish concoctions & creative blends utilising fresh local ingredients.
9. What next for Gaby?
I am continuing my duties as Miss Europe even though most of them have be carried out digitally now. I love collaborating with brands on social media campaigns to expect to see more of that as digital platforms are getting stronger. I am also working towards having my own brand one day.
I’m grateful for the opportunity L'Officiel Arabia gave me as new digital cover girl. Bye L’Officiel Arabia!
