“In the borderland between sleep and wakefulness. This collection is very much designed in that space – that wandering moment when your mind is back and forth. I will do my best work then, I think. With the collection, I had an instinct to go a little bit grand and posh with the pearls. You see it with the Jardin de Perle earrings – they are a little bit chandelier, a little bit queenly. They have a bit of majesty. But it still needs to be fresh and clean. I like clashes and contrasts, something a little bit off. So I went a bit mid 90s, TLC and Waterfalls.” - Sophie Bille Brahe, Founder and Creative Director.
For Spring/Summer 2023, a sense of wild opulence creeps into Sophie Bille Brahe’s universe – kept in tight check by her minimalistic Scandinavian sensibility. The Jardin de Coeurs earrings pick up the collection’s queenly influence, combining diamonds in marquise, pear, and heart shapes. Another pair of earrings, the Promenade de Coeurs, features a line of diamond hearts, the stones graduating sizes, big to small, dangling from the ear. The season has once again found Sophie working with hearts and flowers, traditional – almost cliché – motifs in jewellery, done her own way.
The centerpiece of the collection is the Ocean Dree, a single earring designed as an ode to the actress Dree Hemingway with intoxicating strings of diamonds cascading like the spray from a waterfall. The Plateau Diamant ring is crafted from a row of diamonds set in 18 carat gold that form a band around the finger, then swirl like a whirlpool around a center stone of 0.50 carats.
Sophie adds a majestic flavour to her collection of pearls with two opulent pairs of chandelier-style earrings, channelled through her modern minimalism, The Jardin de Perle and the Grand Chateau de Perles. The Petite Peggy Pearl necklace is interpreted in an elongated 1 metre version, named Jardin de Peggy.
The collection brings the party with a series of megawatt single earrings. The Grande River earring has two strands of dazzling diamonds hanging sensually from the lobe, one in front of the ear, one behind – the back of the earring is as much a design feature as the front. The earring is sold as a single piece and has a total of 0.70 carats of diamonds set in 18 carat gold.
