L'Officiel Arabia: When and how did you decide to become a singer and actress?
Rawan Bin Hussain: Right after completing my Law degree, getting both my bachelors and maters in London, going through my personal heartbreak, the challenges of Covid and the trauma of the lockdown, I figured out that it’s time for me to pursue what I genuinely and truly love. I have always wanted to be an artist and pour my emotions into my art and I did so in my first release “Kan Ya Makan” which was released in the international woman’s day on the 8th of March 2021. The success of this release has motivated me to continue turning my own personal pain into a success story. I decided that I wanted to continue my artistic journey and yeah it has been a rewarding experience.
L'O A: You have a massive following on Instagram (7.2 million) as we speak. How difficult is it to manage such a massive following?
RBH: To be honest, it's often overwhelming—actually, most of the time it is overwhelming. I find myself juggling multiple responsibilities, and among them, the most important one is being a mother to Luna. As a single mom, I take on both the roles of a mother and a father which requires double the effort, double the pain, and double the tears, but also double the love and double the pride. And then, being an artist and a brand ambassador for several brands I try as much as I can to manage my time effectively and give them the attention and energy they deserve within my daily schedule.
L'O A: Which top brands are you associated with?
RBH: I have worked with several brands, I don’t want to mention some and leave some out because all of them hold a special place in my heart and all of them represent a big milestone and chapter of my life that has taught me a lot and I am super appreciative and grateful for each and every brand whether they are considered top brands, small brands, starts ups or international brands they have all impacted me and left a footprint in my career.
L'O A: You are also a beauty influencer. Tell us more about it.
RBH: I don’t consider myself a beauty influencer, I consider myself more as a lifestyle influencer, because my content revolves around sharing different aspects of my everyday life including beauty tips, skincare routine and my travel experiences to different destinations in the world. Basically, it’s like giving a glimpse into my life as reality show, but without the staged element. I strive to be authentic and genuine showing the reality of my everyday life.
L'O A: How has your Kuwaiti lineage helped you in your career/life in general?
RBH: Honestly, growing up as a Kuwaiti taught me a lot. First of all, we are a country that is well known for its democracy and freedom of speech and freedom of expression and being one the most open minded countries in the region that gave me more freedom to fully embrace my authentic self, to follow my dreams and to be unapologetic when it comes to expressing my opinions and being who I am.
L'O A: What's next for Rawan?
RBH: More exciting projects, more songs, and live shows. I promise to only deliver the best.
