L’Officiel Arabia: When and how did you decide to be in the modeling industry?

Iro Dimitropoulou: Since a young age, at about three years old, I was introduced to the modeling world, taking part in fashion shows and campaigns. As I was growing up, because of school and my talent in sports, my parents and I decided to focus on that. When I turned 17 years old, I fell in love with the fashion and modeling world. My first modeling job after graduating high school was at the Cannes Fashion Week. After that, I was determined to leave my mark in the modeling industry. I travelled to Los Angeles and lived there for a period of time while continuing university online. I went to many castings and participated in an American Documentary.

 

LOA: You became an entrepreneur at a very young age,tell us more about that.

ID: Sure. Because of my parents’ occupations, I was exposed to the corporate world from a young age. I’ve always wanted to establish my own business and share my thoughts with the rest of the world. After assisting my parents in their businesses, I decided to develop my own idea and prove that a beautiful woman can also be intelligent. My first company is a platform and App for Apple & Android that connects beauty professionals with customers, in order to assist with booking appointments at their preferred place. I was always fascinated with beauty and skincare and wanted to help people with their skin matters, so my partner and I have started the cosmetic line IRO Cosmetics @irocosmetics. It’s already being sold in the United Kingdom with locations in Oxford Street.

LOA: Who has been your inspiration in life?

ID: As I mature and understand myself better, I feel that I find inspiration in a variety of people and things. There are some amazing people out there and I’m constantly impressed by the accomplishments other people achieve every day. I also find inspiration in music, poetry, art and traveling. The beautiful nature that surrounds us also inspires me every day. The person who has most greatly inspired me has been my grandmother. She always has a smile on her face no matter how hard she works, and she loves everyone. Life is full of inspirations; all you have to do is look around and appreciate them.

 

LOA: Tell us more about your role in the American Documentary you acted in?

ID: It was a wonderful experience; it was for a very well-known American TV Channel, and I had the lead role. I got to understand my country better because shoots took place in all of Greece’s magical islands. For less than a month the professional crew and I travelled around all of Greece, and we were able to immerse ourselves in the traditions of every island. I personally loved Milos Island, because of its amazing beaches and volcanic landscapes. Milos is also the place where the statue of Greek goddess Aphrodite was discovered, “Venus de Milo.”

LOA: You were the winner of Miss Top Model 2018 in Lebanon, tell us more about that…

ID: It was a hard and amazing experience at the same time. I’m so happy about this accomplishment, as I achieved one of my goals and I feel my genuine worth was proven. I’ll never forget this moment, and I’m grateful to everyone who came to support me at the International Beauty Competition, in which models of 42 countries competed. I love Lebanon and I would love to travel there again someday.

 

LOA: Have you ever been to the UAE? If yes how was your experience?

ID: Yes, I come very often to the UAE. It’s an amazing country with wonderful people. You can always find things to do and explore this iconic country. When I’m in Dubai I love to just relax at the beach or by the pool and look at this beautiful city of skyscrapers. Also, I’m so humbled and flattered by the fact that you, L’Officiel Arabia, which is such a huge publication, has chosen me to grace your cover. I believe I’m the first Greek model to accomplish this. For that, I feel honored!

LOA: What’s next for Iro?

ID: I plan to keep working smart and hard towards my goals, and I want to continue to develop my ideas for my business and projects. I’d love to explore the world and get to know myself better, and understand my purpose. We all have a purpose in this life, and it is our choice to find it and live it.
