L’Officiel Arabia: When and how did you decide to get into modelling?
Sarah Loinaz: I was a teenager when I first started in the Fashion industry, at 13 years old.
I always loved it and wanted to be part of this exciting business, however, it happened without me planning anything. Some family friends invited me to be part of a short movie for the San Sebastian Film Festival that was happening in my city at that time, Scouters saw me, called me and soon after I started working in their model agency. What I dreamt about happened without prior planning, this is a big reason why I strongly believe in destiny.
L'O A: Who has inspired you the most in your life?
SL: My mom, who is Moroccan is the person who inspired me the most. She is a true inspiration and the most positive person I know. She empowered me and taught me valuable lessons; be strong, work hard and ultimately you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
L’O A: How has your Moroccan lineage helped you in your career?
SL: It helped me so much and it’s funny because when I was younger, I was bullied at school because of my Moroccan roots. Nowadays, this lineage opened most of the doors, especially in the Arab industry. This makes me so proud. I am also thankful to have the opportunity to know and share different cultures and countries. I love and completely support diversity.
L’O A: You represented Spain at Miss Universe - tell us more about your experience.
SL: Yes, it was an amazing experience. I always wanted to go to Miss Universe as a child but when I won Miss Universe Spain I realized it was more than that, I had the opportunity to use that big platform to work with different charities and speak up showing different realities. I represented Spain but at the same time Morocco, and that was my message, that no matter where you come from in the end we are all the same.
L’O A: You are an ocean advocate - tell us more about it.
SL: I started a project called Recycle, See & Action to create a positive impact through the platform of Miss Universe. I enjoyed it so much because through this project I learned and share the importance of taking care of Mother Nature. With small gestures, we can create a big positive impact.
L’O A: Have you been to the UAE? If yes, how was your experience?
SL: I love UAE. I always felt connected to the Arab Countries because of my roots, of course, but especially the UAE I think is the place to be now. There are many opportunities and a growing market for the fashion industry.
L’O A: What's next for Sarah Loinaz?
SL: I am currently focusing on my modelling career which I love. I am also starting a new project that relates to fashion but from another perspective that is different than being a model.
