“We created Hive Flight because the world could not visit us, so we brought New Zealand to the rest of the world. This immersive experience enables the viewer to see first-hand the remote pristine locations we place our hives and the extreme lengths our team goes to in producing the purest Manuka Honey in the world. Our story becomes real – physically, emotionally, and visually.”
- Jim McMillan, Founder of The True Honey
The True Honey Co. welcomed an elite group of award-winning chefs, foodies, and lifestyle editors to experience first-hand the extraordinary process and exquisite land that gives New Zealand one of its greatest resources: Mānuka Honey.
Guests were invited to a curated dinner that highlighted the various manifestations of this high-end ingredient; providing a culinary journey that stimulated the senses and allowed the patron to savour and appreciate the smoothness and flavour of this rare organic commodity.
Introducing the guardians set on a quest for excellence, The True Honey Co. makes the purest Mānuka honey in the world. As their passion, THC will never sacrifice the highest standards and practives.
Their story began in 2013, when the founder and master craftsman Jim McMillan identified areas of Manuka growing in some of the remote pristine parts of New Zealand. His dream was to harvest and perfect the finest Mānuka’s honey to share with discerning honey lovers around the globe.
As prized as caviar or truffles, New Zealand is home to arguably the world’s finest Mānuka Honey. Made from the floral nectar of the indigenous Leptospermum scoparium Manuka honey has made quite a name for itself. Its scarcity and scientifically proven anti-bacterial qualities combined with the rigour and delicacy required to harvest it, has resulted in a highly sought-after product. Yet only a few companies can offer authentic Mānuka Honey and truly lay claim to this treasured liquid gold.
All honey are not created equal: This Mānuka Honey rises above all others and is a celebration of the extraordinary lengths the company goes to. The True Honey Co. will only place their hives in pristine and remote Mānuka bush locations accessible by helicopter. The flowering of the Mānuka must be timed to perfection and the weather just right to allow the bees to produce honey of the greatest potency. They take pride in their role to respect nature’s work and through their expertise, nurture the nectar to unrivalled colour, flavour and grade.
It was this dedication to authenticity and honesty that led Jim McMillan – founder of The True Honey Co. – to build a company to produce and sell only high-quality, true Mānuka honey products that people love and trust, using transparent and ethical practices.
“We want to stand behind every drop of our honey and this can only be achieved by having full ownership and control from hive to jar, as well as looking after everybody and every bee at every step,” said McMillan

To name just a few...
This goes hand-in-hand with a focus on only selling independently tested Manuka Honey with an MGO rating of 300+ or above given scientific research consistently shows proven results at this level* MGO ratings refer to the level of methylglyoxal in the honey and is expressed as milligrams per kilogram.
“We use the MGO rating number because this is proportional to its antibacterial potency, and we test and guarantee the MGO level in every batch and we think that’s what honey lovers really what to know and will trust” said McMillan.
