- BARIŞ ARDUÇ

_______________

Barış, you’ve become a prominent figure in the Turkish entertainment industry. What have been the most pivotal moments of your journey so far?

Barış Arduç: All the projects I have done since the day I first stepped into the professional life have been steps that have served me to the point I have reached today. I can't specifically say just one "the most important moment" because every step, every moment has its own value for me. I believe that everything in my career happens when it should happen, and my happiness in where I am now shows me how important the entire process, I have been through is.

You've essayed some memorable characters over the years, what is your process for picking your roles? And what is your preparation process like?

Barış Arduç: Generally, when choosing a role, I try to make sure that the new character I will portray differs slightly from the last one, in order to avoid repetition. I create challenges for myself, I don't want to choose the easy characters in general, the more difficult a role is, the more exciting for me. The applause and nice comments I receive for such characters make me just as happy.

In my preparation process; If I am going to take a part in a historical project, I try to thoroughly research and assimilate that period of history. If it requires an extra skill, such as using a sword or riding a horse, I definitely take lessons and practice on these. If I am going to act in a project that takes place in the present day, character’s characteristics, social life, family, childhood, profession, etc. I try to understand thoroughly. For example; Whatever job they do, I find people who do that job in real life, chat with them, and try to perceive their real world. Apart from these, I try not to do too much because, together with the scenario written by the screenwriter, our own personal interpretation as an actor and the characteristics we add from ourselves make the character more natural and successful.

How do you think the Turkish entertainment industry has evolved since you started, and what changes do you see for its future?

Barış Arduç: It's been almost 14 years since I started to work in this industry. While the sector was already in a good state before, it continues to develop over the years with the generation I grew up with. Even though we are at a good point, I think it is still not where it deserves, I am sure it will reach much different points in the future. I think the progress we have made is incredibly important to where we are now. If we evaluate the situation of the Turkish entertainment industry worldwide, especially in recent times, it has a very large trade volume and has become one of the most important professions in the country. We are followed from all over the world, there is nothing happier and prouder than this. The projects we shoot in our own region are followed in dozens of countries and attract a lot of attention, at least, as much as we see in our own country. This is really valuable, although I think the situation of the industry is very good, I believe that it is open to improvement and I am sure that it will be in a much better place in the future.

Who or what has been your greatest influence in both your personal life and career?

Barış Arduç: I think the answer changes from time to time because we all grow, mature and change. There may be different figures that we are influenced by in every period, sometimes it may be our grandfather, sometimes it may be anyone in the neighborhood, sometimes it may be a little child. At this point in my life, for me, it definitely is my daughter. She motivates me incredibly and increases my appetite for work, I want to do more for her. In fact, I was always doing my job with the urge to do what was good and right but now, I want to leave a career for my child, whom I consider more important than myself, so that she can feel respect and pride about me when she looks back when she grows up. Actually, I'm trying to make her say that my father was one of the bests, he did this job very well and he was a man who loved his profession. This used to be just about me, but now my child is a huge mirror for me. Being able to see on her face how well my career is going and how happy it makes her is probably the greatest reward I can get at the end of the day. That's why my biggest source of strength that inspires me is my daughter.

Your sense of style has been widely admired. How would you describe your personal fashion philosophy? Are there any specific individuals in the fashion or entertainment industries whom you look up to?

Barış Arduç: I like to dress well and comfortably, and I spend time on these matters but not excessively. Although, I don't always have the instinct to keep up with what's trending or what's fashionable. I prefer clothes that I feel good in. Sometimes, going out with vintage pieces that never go out of fashion is enough. As you know, we started a special collaboration with Kiğılı. Creations of Kiğılı's comfort, designs, calm elegance and variety of combinations suitable for every moment make me very comfortable in this sense. Even though we have just started our journey, we are receiving really good feedback, which shows us that we are on the right track.

Can you give us a sneak peek into the upcoming projects that you are most excited about right now?

Barış Arduç: There are only a few days left, we are starting a movie that we will shoot in the summer, which I am looking forward to with excitement. It will be shot in a location where we normally go on holiday. It will be an interesting experience for me, that I can have my family with me and run my business at the same time. Apart from that, there is an animation movie that I have written. I have been working on that project for 4-5 years and I think it will meet with the audience around 2026 after all preparations are completed. The fact that this project is finally coming to an end motivates me extra. Since it is an animated film, it gives us the opportunity to expand, brighten and evolve our imagination into something completely different, as we tell a surreal world. I'm very curious about how the things pouring out of my mind will appear as animation. These are my biggest excitements right now.
