Y/PROJECT x Melissa: A Princess Shoe

Have your Cinderella moment with Y/Project X Melissa, combining a crystal shoe with all the comfort that the Sao Paolo-born reinventors of jelly shoes are known for.

Obsessed with the idea of pretty footwear; something that is going to make your foot look chic, fabulous, and even a bit royal?
Your wishes are granted!

After a few collaborations, Y/Project allies with Melissa, the vegan and recyclable shoe and accessories brand based in Brazil. Melissa has been around since the heyday of jelly shoes. In the ’90s, they made clunky jelly sandals in all the saccharine hues of the rainbow.

“The Y/PROJECT x Melissa shoe collaboration is a nod to Victorian vases, profusely adorned and embellished, merged with the popular British tradition of porcelain vases shaped as miniature court shoes, distorting the idea of preciosity. The design ethos of Y/PROJECT has always been about the blending and bending of historical references and pop culture, of past and present, of high and low. This eco-friendly collaboration reflects a girl’s dream to wear a crystal shoe but with all the comfort Melissa is renowned for.” — said Glenn Martens, Creative Director at Y/Project.

The Y/Project X Melissa Jelly Mules are crafted from rubber, featuring a point toe, two-tone sculpted design and kitten heel.

Photographs are inspired by Renaissance paintings that feature an abundance of flowers. With only the model’s legs visible, all attention is drawn to the shoes.

The collection is available at selected retailers worldwide and at Y/Project website.
