L’Officiel Arabia What is the biggest lesson you learned from your time on reality television? What advice would you give to others getting involved in the unscripted world?
Harry Jowsey: Biggest lesson learned on Reality tv is that no matter what I do I will be judged and I’ll hear everyone’s different opinions about me, I won’t necessarily like it. But the positive side to this is that I have been able to take this and self reflect. This makes me think about my actions moving forward. Being more self aware is always a good thing.
LOA: You’ve been in a very public relationship that also had a public breakup. How do you handle the intense media scrutiny? Do you think the public’s interest has affected your relationships since?
HJ: Yes, public interest has definitely affected my relationships. It’s very hard to determine if someone is with you for genuine reasons. But also it’s difficult to prove to your audience that you are seeing someone just as genuinely. LOL Usually when you see someone off the bat, people think you might be doing it for the media or press. It's been difficult in that way. I recognize now that I have not been doing myself any favors either….When I start to see someone I like, I tend to post with them and just have a good time. I love posting content with someone I care about which puts that relationship to the public eye. It can be difficult to deal with the media scrutiny and having so much judgment on relationships. People put a lot of energy into it but I know it’s part of the journey and I have been learning so much from it along the way.
LOA: You’re known for your impeccable fashion sense, having been featured in designers like Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, and more. How would you define your personal style? How has your style evolved over the years?
HJ: I think my sense of fashion is still evolving. I used to wear skinny jeans and roll them up with no-show socks which was my go to outfit of choice. I thought I looked cool but now I get the opportunity to wear some amazing fashion brands like Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, and other high end fashion brands and it’s been exciting and awesome to evolve by trying new things. Most importantly I feel way more confident and excited about fashion in general.
LOA: It was just announced you’ve signed with WME and are set to pursue a career in acting. Can you tell me more about that and what you’re looking forward to most about acting?
HJ: I am so excited and so grateful to be signed with the most amazing agency in the world, WME. It has been a crazy and rewarding journey so far and that they see the potential in me has been the coolest feeling on the planet. I am just focussed on working and making sure they don’t feel like they are just wasting their time on me. I am excited to get started in the acting world because it gives me a chance to start sometime new and pushes me to start into the uncomfortable! When you feel uncomfortable, that is where you will see the growth come from. And that’s been the most rewarding part for me - not putting my foot on the brakes but continuing to try new things, to venture in a new direction and be seen in a more professional light. I want to let my professional and business side take over which is very exciting. I’m looking forward to working on more sets, learning, and meeting even more amazing people in this industry.
LOA Your podcast, Tap In, is a huge success with subscribers from across the globe. What has been your favorite thing about hosting a podcast? Which guest have you had that left a lasting impression on you?
HJ: The most rewarding thing about having a podcast is the fact that you get to sit down with a stranger or a friend with your phone off and be present in a conversation. I can’t remember the last time I was able to do this in my personal life as things have been so crazy in the best way. Having a podcast has allowed me to learn more about my friends or get to learn and know someone new who all have interesting stories. For me, it’s a super selfish thing because I enjoy listening to people's journeys.
As for the guest that has left a lasting impression, there are so many but most recently, I think it would have to be Dixie D’Amelio. What an amazing human. We have been friends for a while but we have never had a chance to really hang out like that before. She left a new impression and perspective than I had previously had, because she is so much more than meets the eye. An incredible person who is an extremely hard worker who really cares about those around her as well as all her fans. It was such a great opportunity to have her on the podcast
LOA: Let’s talk about fashion a little more. As someone who is 6’5”, do you find it hard to find clothes? If so, how do you work around this / find your style around limited options?
HJ: Yes, I think it is extremely difficult to find things for myself as I like to wear XXL shirts on top and my waist is a 32” so I’m a bit of a weird build. It’s hard to find companies or clothes to fit how I like but there is always trial and error, so I always try everything to find the right fit and style.
LOA: Who is your biggest fashion influence right now?
HJ: For me, I think it would have to be Devin Booker. It might sound crazy but the way he wears clothes to events, to games, wherever, gets me hyped up because he knows what he is doing and looks sick.
LOA: What is your dream brand to work with in the fashion space?
HJ: Deam brand to work with has got to be Balenciaga because. I just think they are so cool, the designs are really awesome and clothes always fit impeccably.
LOA: If you could describe your ideal style in 3 words, what would they be?
HJ: It would have to be a Mykonos, European laid back vibe with birkenstocks. For me that’s a fun little vibe.
LOA: What other projects are you currently working on? What are you most excited about?
HJ: Right now, a bit of acting stuff and some hosting. We just had Floor Is Lava on Netflix that just came out which we won and am excited to have people finally see it. A bunch of little things here and there but my podcast has been the most amazing project that I am focused on - it just is so rewarding to me.
